Heartland Security partners with Alarm.com to give you remote access to your smart home and security system through the free Alarm.com app available for your smartphone or tablet. The app works by using a cellular connection with your security system, letting you stay connected even if the power goes out, the Internet is disconnected, or a landline is cut.
If you subscribe to our interactive services with Alarm.com, you have full access to the free app and its features. With the app, you can:
1. Remotely control devices (lights, locks, thermostats)
During the work day, you can turn your thermostats down and make sure the lights are off – conserving energy and saving you money. But you’re not limited to just controlling your lights, locks, and thermostats – one woman uses the app to remotely feed her pet when she’s away from home.
2. Receive alerts when activity occurs
If the alarm goes off, you’ll receive a text or email. You can also receive notifications whenever activity occurs, such as the kids arriving home from school, when a dog walker or house cleaner comes and goes, or if a medicine cabinet or liquor cabinet is opened. You can also set it up to send you a notification if you forget to arm the system when you leave in the morning.
3. Monitor system activity
The Alarm.com app allows you to check in on your system anytime, from anywhere. You can also search your system’s history of activity, reviewing “any activity by sensor, type of event, date or time” (Alarm.com).
4. Watch high-definition video
You can watch live video showing your kids getting home from school, when a car pulls into the driveway, and to check up on your pets. You can also keep an eye on contractors or cleaners in your home. The app also lets you watch stored video clips.
5. Arm or disarm your system
The easy-to-navigate app lets you arm or disarm your system with just the touch of a button. You can rest easy and comfortably, arming your system from your phone when you go to bed at night.
6. Set up user codes
You can use the Alarm.com app to set up access codes for family members and regular visitors such as cleaners or contractors. You’ll be notified when the codes are used, and you can easily disable or enable codes.
