On Wednesday, February 8, 2017, we sponsored the Central Minnesota Builders Association (CMBA)monthly membership meeting held at the Eagles Club in St. Cloud, MN.

From L to R: Regional Sales Manager Tom Marthaler, Marketing Manager Alexa Sandbakken, General Manager Guy Adams, Security Specialist Chuck Amundson, Operations Manager Deb Welz, Security Admin Dorie Berscheit, Executive Sales Manager Corey Pierce

Our General Manager, Guy Adams, gave a short presentation to the group of around 100 people.

Adams began talking about our coverage area, explaining that we are locally owned by 13 electric cooperatives in central, western, and southern Minnesota and northern Iowa, with a local response center in Rockford, MN.

Heartland Security’s alarm systems offer much more than burglary protection; we also monitor for extreme temperatures (high or low)water, the presence of gases (such as carbon monoxide), fire, smoke, and power outages. We also offeremergency buttons and medical alerts.

We work on many different types of projects, from new homesto large commercial buildings to hog farms and school campuses. We’ve been in business since 1999 and now monitor more than 8,000 accounts.

Next, Adams explained how our smart alarm systems and cameras can be controlled from a smart phone. Through one app, you can control your alarm system, lights, locks, garage door, and thermostat as well as view live and recorded video. Security systems are more interactive than ever before and more convenient.

With so many new smart home products on the market in the last few years, you can make your home a smart home very easily. One of our latest offerings is the Skybell doorbell camera.

Another great offering is video-verified alarm systems. These don’t require wires, electricity, or a phone line, so they are great for gravel pits, construction sites, or other remote locations.

Finally, Adams discussed the Dragonfly security system that would be launching in the next week. This do-it-yourself security system gives customers the option of video verification when a motion camera is triggered. The video is sent to your smartphone and you can decide whether to forward the video to the monitoring station for emergency response.

At the end of the meeting Marketing Manager Alexa Sandbakken gave away some door prizes, 2 of which were the new Amazon Echo Dot, a voice-controlled device that helps turn your house into a smarter home.

Thanks to everyone who made it to the meeting, including our great employees!
